⚜️The bronze pendant is gold-plated with a 24k gold solution. This coating protects the pendant from oxidation, tarnishing and corrosion. ⚜️According to Greek Mythology, Arethusa is a nymph of springs and forests, companion of the Goddess Artemis, as well as the daughter of Nereus (hence Nereid nymph) and the Oceanid Doris. She was loved by the river god Alpheus, whom Arethusa, in order to avoid, crossed the sea between the Peloponnese and Sicily and, arriving at the island of Ortygia off Syracuse, was transformed by Artemis into a “spring” rich in gurgling water. Then, Alpheus was transformed into a powerful underwater river (sea current), the impetuosity of which not even the Adrias (Adriatic Sea) could prevent, so as to unite its waters with those of the spring of Arethusa. It is an ancient Greek associative ideal anthropomorphic tradition of the “union” of the freshwater rivers and springs that flow into the sea (through the Mediterranean).
