Selena Moon Goddess

MOON – Her name is etymologically derived from selas (light). In Greek mythology and Greek National Religion, the Moon, or Min (from the lunar lunar calendar) or Pasiphae (in Laconia), is a titanic entity. According to Hesiod’s Theogony, the Moon is the daughter of Hyperion and Theia and the sister of Heus (Dawn). , and of the Sun, who illuminates her eternally because of their brotherhood.

She is usually depicted as a female figure with a crescent as a crown and riding or driving a chariot with winged horses. Other descriptions have her leading a herd of bulls and her crescent crown associated with the bull’s horns. She circles the sky like her brother, on a chariot drawn by two halflings, horses or bulls, one side white and the other black, an allegory of only one side of the lunar surface being illuminated by sunlight. According to various local traditions, she mingled with Air with whom she gave birth to a single daughter, Droso, with the God Zeus (according to the Attic tradition) from whom she gave birth to Pandia (from pan-dios, i.e. pantheotate) , with the God Pana (according to her Arcadian cult on Mount Lycaeus), with the mortal Endymion with whom she bore 50 daughters, as many as the lunar months of each Olympiad, and finally with her brother Helios.

On the theological and symbolic level, the Goddess Moon is the feminine principle of the creation of the World, as well as the door to the occult nature of humanity and the Universe, that is, to that which remains unspeakable in the ordinary view of Nature. In this sense it is considered to directly haunt the imaginary and the subconscious.

The Moon is also the saddle-shaped image of circular time, i.e. it is a micrograph of the flow of everything. The infinite new moons symbolize the infinite points in time of each ending which automatically signals a new beginning. The dark moon allows all energies to settle and calm down. The Universe sheds the most dead old and begins again, wearing on it also the most next new. The same cycle as human female periods and the same symbolism.

The infinite full moons on the other hand, symbolize the infinite time points of culminating energies at the cosmic maximum. In her Athenian worship, she was offered libations of pure water and small crescent-shaped loaves (lunar placentas). Her sacred color is silver and white, and her sacred metal is silver.

She is the first and only lunar Goddess in the earliest poetry. The epithets attributed to her are Aigli, Pasiphae, Mina and Phoebe. As mythology evolved, other Goddesses were associated with the Moon, such as Ekati, Artemis, and Hera.
