The lambda on the shield represented the word Lakedaimon, which was another name for the region of Greece where Sparta was located, or Lakedaimonian, a commonly used alternative name for a Spartan. “Lakedaemonians” is the word used for “Spartans” In the original ancient Greek version of the passage we hear at the end of “300” about the passerby. “Go tell the Spartans, passerby, that here, by Spartan law, I lie down.” A nice men’s pendant for men who love history and symbolism.
